So for those of you who missed it last weekend, the Dwell on Design show was amazing. It’s the West Coast’s biggest design event, was at the LA Convention Center and is put on by Dwell magazine (check out their twitter here). Budget Friendly Brands: Kohler

As part of our budget-friendly philosophy, I hand picked a brand that I feel embodies the sort of high quality fixture Plumbtile could stand behind as well as not empty one’s wallet. Kohler has been introducing a lot of new products recently, so now is a good of time as any to show you their more economical offerings. (more…)

Eco Friendly Initiatives- LEED Friendly Faucets and Toilets

As we move further into 2010, we’re continuing to find other ways to be Eco-Friendly. As almost all of our products use water we’re committed to helping you help the environment. A bath tub won’t be much use if we’re all on water rationing. So we’re highlighting what we can do to help you. (more…)

Senior-Friendly Design

We focus on product spotlights so often I thought I’d take a left turn and go into a less specific field.

A while back I wrote a feature article about walk-in bathtubs here: http://ezinearticles.com/?Step-in-Tubs—Allowing-Bathing-For-Seniors-and-the-Disabled&id=2424362

This blog post is along similar lines, but with a wider view. What does it take to make your bathroom design friendly for seniors (or for yourself if you intend to live in your house for another several decades)? (more…)

Phylrich’s Ornate Traditional Stylings

A lot of the products that Plumbtile.com deals in tend towards a minimalist design; or evoke a futuristic fashion statement. That is well and good, however, there are some customers out there who might want an investment quality brass fitting that could have been taken directly from the 1950s or earlier. Some companies have a selection of bathroom fixtures that hearken back to design eras that have passed us by, but Phylrich’s entire range of products provide an extraordinary traditional setting that will complete your classic French or English styled boudoir.

Vola’s Curvy Faucets and Fillers

Many of the manufacturer’s goods that we deal in have a variety of styles in order to match a number of consumer’s tastes. They’ll provide rustic designs as well as modern and minimalist to appease fans of retro arrangements and more forward-minded thinkers. However, Vola has decided to forgo this multifaceted approach and offers one cohesive statement in their available bathroom and kitchen products.

Jado Brings Grace and Function to their Bathroom Fixtures

jado-spoutA good way to start designing your bathroom is to ask yourself how you really want it to look. Are you after the farmhouse design ideal? Or are you searching for something uncomplicated? Perhaps you’re constrained by size and want something unobtrusive. I’ve found that Jado fits in perfectly with many of these aesthetics. They provide variations on classic looks, yet avoid idiosyncrasy for idiosyncrasy’s sake.

Dornbracht- Environmentally Friendly Kitchen Fixtures

Dornbracht Madison-flair

I’ve talked about bathroom design lately, so I want you to know we also offer several decoration and hardware possibilities for the kitchen.

Dornbracht is a German company founded in 1950. The futuristic styling many German designers pioneered was synthesized with traditional ideas that are easily used in today’s homes. In their own words they say, “Good design has therefore been central to our philosophy for many years. Our products are not merely decorative; they are an expression of a distinctive bathroom culture.”

So what do they have to offer?

Hastings Tile and Bath- New Tile and Faucet Innovations

Hastings Fantini Faucet A recent discovery I’ve made is the Hastings Bath and Tile Collection. They started out a paving company over 100 years ago, but in the past few decades have turned to the bath and tile industry exclusively. This is a good thing, considering the showerheads, faucets, handles, paneling, tiles and accessories they have to offer.
